A Day In The Life Of An Ambulance Driver: Pot. Kettle. Black.

Yes, her mother is a Democratic operative. Why would you be surprised that she chose to take her daughter to see Obama when he came to her neck of the woods? Lots of Republicans went to Bush's town halls (in fact, they didn't let any Dems in, unlike Obama).

Where's the evidence that this was a plant?

It's really impressive to see Republicans go after an eleven year old girl.
  • Mule Breath · 4 months ago
Gosh, AD, really took this one hard... didn't you? Well, at least you recognize the intrinsic value of Limbaugh. That alone makes you redeamable.

We may disagree on many things, my friend, but I don't believe we'll ever differ on the most important parts of life; family, food, beer (well… maybe over brands) and education.

Is it ok to criticize a thirty one year old, or is she too young too? Check out Patterico to see what the esteemed Dr. Roxana added to the debate.
  • crankylitprof · 4 months ago
Did you see the one about the "doctor" who was lauded for her speaking up at a town hall -- who wasn't really a doctor, but a non-medical grad student and Obama delegate?

How does the existence of a 31 year old nut job in Texas justify Malkin and others going after an eleven year old girl?

I think I hear the black helicopters in the background . . .
  • crankylitprof · 4 months ago
It's really impressive to use an 11-year-old, primed and coached, to advance an agenda.

If I took my five-year-old to a town hall and coached him to ask Sen. Sphincter (my senator) why he wanted to deny his grandma's hip replacement or cancer meds as too expensive, would that be appropriate?
  • Anonymous · 4 months ago
They didn't say she was "primed and coached."

They said she was a plant.

What was your native language? You don't seem too comfortable with English.
  • crankylitprof · 4 months ago
A "plant," implying she was selected and prepared to be called upon, to ask a question that TOTUS had a prepared answer for, that would further his agenda.
  • Anonymous · 4 months ago
And your evidence for making this attack on an eleven year-old girl?
  • Mule Breath · 4 months ago
So prof, this is the best you can come up with? Was this "plant" a one time event or has the left shown a pattern? Even if left wingnuts have done such, does that justify teabaggers and town hall vandals?

Perhaps you should pay a visit to CrankyPsychProf to figure out where all that hatred comes from.

I really, really don't care who comes up with what idea. All I care about is that something is done about health insurance costs, now!!! Those of us lucky enough to have job provided access pay way to much for what we get! Co-pays suck, pre-existing rules are barbaric, and don't get me started on premiums going up every year. My three kids are young adults now and if they weren't in college and covered by my insurance then they certainly couldn't pay for thier own. My brother is a college educated mechanic who was layed off last fall and he can't provide insurance for his young family, they make the choice to eat instead. Get a grip people, use your heads and quit believing everything that is barfed up on news bites. We need solutions. I personally would keep my private insurance, but I would have no problem with a public option being out there for others to choose. Why can't those taking a public option help pay with a sliding scale type of rate? -Janet
  • AC · 4 months ago
Janet- You won't be allowed to keep your private insurance.
Read the bill, listen to Obama talk about single payer option, inform yourself.

Then perhaps you will find out what everyone is so upset about.
  • Sigivald · 4 months ago
I've started simply being amused by my acquaintances talking about the "Right-wing LIEZ about Health Care Reform".

Now, there are some nearly indefensible things being said now and then, but... when we see "lies" like "they're saying it'll cost a trillion dollars, but that's over ten years and they didn't add "over ten years" to what they said!"... well, I can't take that real seriously.

Because that's both standard all around for talking about "cost of programs", to average up the first decade or whatnot, and because those complaining never once had a complaint when a Democrat did that.

I expect all politicians and pundits to try and gull me, which is why I can't get real upset when they all act about the same.
  • Anonymous · 4 months ago
One can pick all the nits they please, pro or con, but to get to the bottom bedrock of this argument:

Where in the Constitution, which should be the law of the land for the federal government, and set its powers AND LIMITS:

Where does the Constitution say ANYTHING about federally controlled healthcare. As I remember (and I admit, I do have leaks, and I don't have a handy copy in front of me at work...), the Constitution says NOTHING about healthcare. It limits the powers of federal government very tightly, even to the point of the Tenth Amendment,

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

And to add to that, since WHEN has the government EVER run ANYTHING efficiently??

    Hopefully, 'nuff said.

    Pass it on.

Breast pain is a common problem among women, can still be thrown in your bed or reading the newspaper and suddenly felt a terrible pain in the breasts as if it was a blow that leaves you breathless. The bust is harmful for several reasons, perhaps most frequent menstruation. In findrxonline suggest that women should not be concerned by these problems because they can start a week before the period and extending through the last day, the reason is the increase in estrogen in the body. These hormonal fluctuations cause the breast tissue is filled with fluid and become more responsive, causing two things: hincones in the chest and put heavy stones when you are with the rule.
  • crankylitprof · 4 months ago
There is absolutely a pattern, on both sides of the aisle, of seeding their audiences with pre-primed sycophants. It's nauseating, and makes an absolute mockery of that the town halls are supposed to be.

Tea party PROTESTERS (not "teabaggers," which, as you know, is an attempt to ridicule through vulgarity -- har, har) are certainly entitled to show up and complain that they're not being heard, and air their grievances. Just as protesters on the left have done for the last eight years -- you DO remember the Code Pink people disrupting Senate and House chambers, correct? Was that more acceptable than what is going on now?

As an aside, I hope to God there's actually a blog for a "Cranky Psych Prof," and you're not arguing ad hominem. Making it personal because you disagree would be pretty ridiculous, don't you agree?
  • racheleh · 4 months ago
I think once again a great idea has been trashed by both political parties for reasons of purely political gain. Its spelled MONEY and leaders on both sides stand to make substantial amounts of it at our expense.
While everyone sits around calling each other "pots" and "kettles" ( a reference that is purely racist in origin), there are people like me, who can't afford health care.

    period

My baseline mammogram is 4 years overdue. I don't have insurance.

My yearly visit with the doctor is due, and my unemployment is on hold because I had a minimum wage job for two days. I can't get a prescription without in person visit. So there goes my Birth control and my SSRI.

Something constructive needs to happen and you republicans and you democrats need to get off your butts and get a solution. A lot of people are dying through neglect and indifference.

I suggest we try to do something besides complain. Get a state solution going, that way the feds stay out of it. Its simple. GET INVOLVED. We can spend hundreds of dollars on a WII to "get fit" but we can't write a letter to a congressman, or volunteer for a group that is getting real results? GET INVOLVED and remember, we are all neighbors.

oops , dang, I seem to have stepped on a soapbox. sorry all, this is close to home, and to see nothing happen AGAIN is really aggravating.

PLEASE get involved and do something constructive.

Glad to see someone, somewhere, actually recognizes the polarity of today’s politics. Now if we could just encourage those who recognize such to avoid same.

Tea party PROTESTERS (not "teabaggers," which, as you know, is an attempt to ridicule through vulgarity

No attempt intended. I was intentionally ridiculing. Sheep deserve ridicule, regardless of party affiliation.

entitled to show up and complain that they're not being heard

If that was all that was happening there would be no problem. But that isn’t the truth at all. This is an organized thing with a purpose of disrupting civil dialogue. Yes, I recognize the ridiculous Code Pink demonstrators and the stupidity of such. I do not justify pinkery just because of teabaggery. Both are uncivil and certainly uncalled for. [CAVEAT: Not all protestors attending tea parties were teabaggers, and there are teabaggers who never attended a tea party. But we can certainly say that all pinkers who protested were sheep and idiots].

Was that more acceptable than what is going on now?

It is most evident that you do not follow my rantings or you would never have asked such a question.

I hope to God there's actually a blog for a "Cranky Psych Prof," and you're not arguing ad hominem

I might hope such a blog would exist too (even if god does not), but of course you know none does, and you know ad hominem was exactly my tactic, don’t you? Otherwise you would never have raised such a point. Especially considering the first comment on Dino’s blog post that started this whole debate.

Actually, Mule Breath, I really don't read your rantings. I can engage in good-natured ad hominem with Dino, because she's seen me nekkid -- being my personal physician, and all. I don't have that relationship with you, and thus, don't stoop to attacking you personally to make a point.

It doesn't seem that anyone is going after an 11 year old girl. What it does seem like is someone is going after the mother of an 11 year old girl who might be using her daughter to advance an agenda she agrees with.

Then again, it's OK for David Letterman to go after a 14 year old girl whose mother he dislikes. No outrage from the left over that one.

And no, it's not both sides here. It's the Democrats who are trying to give us the bum's rush to pass a bill that most of them haven't even read. One of which will leave the details to appointed, mostly unaccountable, bureaucrats.
  • Student EMT Cracker · 4 months ago
Like my grandaddy always said, " If you think it's expensive now, just wait till it's free"

When the Gov. runs healthcare, and they will if this boondoggle passes, it will be a clusterf**k of petty little gov appointees building their own private kingdoms at the taxpayer expense. You want to see how well the gov. runs healthcare then go look at what they provide on the Native American reservations.
  • Mule Breath · 4 months ago
An ass I may have been, but then that is my namesake, isn't it?

Overall I thought the discussion was gentile enough, although I guess my poking and prodding would have been better appreciated by someone who better knows me. There was no deliberate insult intended; just good natured jousting. I'm sorry you took offense, Prof.

Now it seems that #1 Dino has cleared the air on her blog and pointed to exactly that which I was trying to point. Bad manners is bad manners regardless of where displayed or the actor displaying same. It is the deliberate disruption of civil meetings that is the debate, and not the bill itself. I think you might find I'm closer to your way of thinking if that discussion ever arises. I recognize the need for reform, but the bill currently under consideration is not what we need.

There are some bad mannered people out there, and if in this debate I somehow managed to behave like one, I hope Prof (and AD) will forgive me. You are welcome over on my blog if you choose to visit, and you can even shit on the floor if you feel impassioned enough. Just be prepared to be used as the mop.

Actually, people accusing Michelle Malkin of "beating up on a little girl" apparantly haven't actually read the article in question.

Malkin did not say ANYTHING negative about the girl -- she talked about how the administration and the girl's mother (who has apparantly donated thousands of dollars to Obama) are using the girl.

Just beucase you're in the tank for Obama doesn't give you tehright to lie about what his critics say.

Really? The pot calling the kettle black is racist? Off yer meds, luv?

Here's a little history for ya:

Long before most speakers of the English language had ever seen or become familiar with those whose skins hold a darker hue, it seems people used to cook over fires, which left the cooking utensils covered in soot. So the pot on one side of this fire thingie, had no room to sneer at the kettle on the other side, as both were covered in the results of their work.

Personally, I tend to sneer at people who blame everything on racism, but then I'm not always the world's most pleasant person, and tho I do try to make allowances, ignorance of the rankest sort tends to get on my nerves.

Secondly, if your mammogram is really 4 years overdue (and by what standard, the "richest country in the world can afford to be over-zealous" healthcare standard, or the "I'm at high risk" standard, one wonders) why haven't you just paid for it? A mammogram is NOT an emergency procedure, last I heard. Not a catastrophic cost for which one would normally consider insurance necessary.

Someone else mentioned yearly physicals- again, an extravagance. A good idea, but not necessary during the majority of one's life, when in good health. Definitely not something which one's normal resources wouldn't be able to cover, with a little planning. Certainly not something for which is it necessary to pool risk in the form of insurance The word you're looking for is subsidy, an entirely different kettle, if you'll excuse the racist term.
  • Andrew33 · 4 months ago
We amy call the kettle black, but ate least aren't releged to using back kettles bussed in from 100 miles away. If anyone got their feelings hurt their feelings hurt because of this post, I sorry you have weak feelings. Real Life will fix it for ya.

Hey AD - glad to see someone else callin these people out. They are so in love with Obama they don't think straight. Time to put down the Kool-Aid sippy cup and smell the coffee. You can't convince them - even when you show them video proving that Obama's plan is to put private insurance plans out of business. Have you see the video he won't even acknowledge? Bet he never thought it would surface.

Nobody's going after a little girl, they're going after the evil, cynical people who would use her to advance their agenda.

You seem to be under some misunderstanding here: you *have* the Republican solution already, or something fairly close to it. No money, no medical care. If you don't like it, go make some money. Or maybe ask your church to take care of you.
